I'm sorry to tell everyone this, but I'm headed to Mars in 2011.  OK, maybe not me physically, but my name is headed there.  Yours could be, too!

Turns out that NASA is sending a microchip with hundreds of thousands of names in the Mars Science Laboratory rover, scheduled to hit the Red Planet in 2011.  If you want to be a part of this (and why WOULDN'T you?!?), head on over to the NASA website.  Just a forewarning, it loaded a little slow for me, so maybe the crush of people logging in is crashing the servers.  Be patient, and you'll be a part of history, just like me!!!

I'm not really sure why they're sending a microchip with our names on it, but maybe some advanced civilization will find it some day and know we once existed.  Or, maybe the Martians will read the names and know exactly who to target when they decide to take over Earth...  Either way, at least you're on "The List."

P.S. - What's up with Californians dominating the list of names?  I can understand the US as a whole being ahead of the rest of the World, but to have California lead the numbers is just odd.  So, if you live outside of CA, step up.  I'm looking at you, Wyoming!
